Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

I have been wanting to get my hands an Apocalips Lip Lacquer since alot of people have been giving them such high praise. I chose 101 Celestial which is a rose pink colour, when I first used this I thought they would not last because I find alot of lip gloss products fade so easily. This however changed my view, this particular shade is so pigmented and the thick texture of the lacquer means a little goes a long way, but still shows great colour. These lacquers come up as an almost matte finish which is lovely, as I'm not a big lover of overly shiny finishes. It also offers the moisturising element which lipsticks sometimes lack. This is just a bit more vibrant than my natural lip colour, so it makes it very wearable for both day and evening. I definitely think I may pick up another one of these as I think it is a range of six at the moment. These Rimmel Apocalips I think are a great dupe for the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Lip Stain, and at just a fraction of the price.

Topshop's Monochrome Must Haves!

Monochrome is a trend I absolutely love, whatever season. The contrast in colours is one which I think exudes class, meaning it is no surprise it was a key trend on the catwalks and has again hit the high street. I wanted to look at different shops and their takes on the monochrome trend, but found myself falling in love with so many pieces from Topshop. However, recently I have visited Primark and they have some very nice monochrome cardigans, which scream Chanel! This is a trend I think suits everyone.

1. Topshop White Stripe Pencil Skirt- The midi length dress and skirts are another trend I love at the moment. This pencil skirt hits both trends with the vertical monochrome stripes perfect for slimming the hips and lengthening legs. A lovely skirt which could be worn in the office, or with a simple black silk cami and heels for an evening out.

2. Topshop Spot Cut-Out Crop Top- Crop Tops are another trend which are all over the highstreet at the moment. I love the polka dot print, and I think this would look lovely with a red lip.

3. Topshop Mono Floral Playsuit- This playsuit is a lovely and more subtle take on the monochrome trend aa bold stripes may not be for everyone. I think the high neck on this playsuit it very elegant. Topshop have really excelled themselves with this playsuit and they also have a blazer of the same print.

4. Topshop MILL Toecap Slippers- These shoes again are a great way to put a hint on monochrome into your outfit. The black trim on the shoes I think makes them look more expensive and could even be mistaken for Chanel.

5. Topshop Knitted Slubby Crop Jumper- This jumper is a great way to put monochrome into your daytime wear. The blurred stripes show a softer approach to the monochrome trend.

6. Topshop Dogtooth Phone Purse- Dogtooth is such a classic print, and these phone purses are a great idea. With room for both your phone and cards its a great small clutch or just daytime purse.

Beauty Haul

From Top: Nars Gilda, Topshop Hazard, Rimmel Red Diva.

1. Topshop Smokey Eye Pallette in Golden Aura- I've been trying out gold smokey eyes over the Christmas and New Year season and I love the look. I've been wanting a pallette for a while and came across this in Topshop. Gold is a great alternative from black and grey based smokey eyes which are always a classic and these eyeshadows are great and pigmented. I have only used these a few times so I shall let you know how I get on with them with more use.

2. Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Barley- Before I had the Topshop pallette I purchased this basic gold eyeshadow from Boots' Natural Collection. I just wanted a cheap brand to see if a gold smokey eye would suit me.   I think alot of Natural Collection products are good especially for the price, and they do not contain fragrances meaning they are suitable for sensitive skin.

3. Topshop Eyes in Good as Gold- I picked up this bargain £1 eyeshadow a few weeks ago, once applied I'm not very keen on the colour as it's too yellow based. I also picked up a Louise Gray for Topshop lipstick (not pictured) it is an orange based bright red with very coral tones. I would say it is a more summery colour and looks great with simple eye makeup.

4. Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in 024 Red Diva- This deep red lipliner goes perfectly  under Topshop's hazard. This collection of Rimmel lipliners are very easy to apply, long lasting and pigmented definitely worth a try to keep lipstick on for longer.

5. Topshop Lipstick in Hazard- I've been really loving Topshop's makeup range as you can probably tell. I love this red as it is so pigmented and matte. The only problem which Topshop Lipsticks is they are not very moisturising so I tend to use Lush Popcorn lipscrub, moisturiser, and a lip balm a bit before so it doesnt cling onto dry skin.

6. Nars Blush in Gilda- I have been desperate to find a Nars counter all of last year and I've been in Cardiff the last couple of weeks and I finally found one. I wanted a blush that would warm my face to wear with red lipstick, the Nars specialist recommended Gilda and I love it! You only need a small amount as it is so pigmented a little goes a long way. This particular blush is a matte finish unlike some Nars blushers a warm peach brown shade which looks lovely across the apples of the cheeks and up to the temples.

7. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush- A lot of people have been raving about the Real Techniques brushes so I thought I would give this face brush a try. I use foundation only on nights out and the brush I have isn't the best. This brush however is designed to use for broad application and blending foundation making a flawless base to apply the rest of your makeup. Ive already fallen in love with it and I think I'll next be investing in the shading brush for eyes.
